Erin’s meditative designs began with small 6×6 drawings on the Isle of Iona in Scotland in the spring of 2011. Each design was based on a request given by sponsors who helped fund the journey. There are seven designs in the original set, and the collection continues to grow as part of Erin’s ongoing creative process.
Much like dreaming, these meditative designs are a way to connect with deeper thought processes and emotions that cannot be articulated with words or expressed with finite symbols. Using an unforgiving medium like ink is an exercise in risk-taking, openness, and trust. Much like life, there is no guarantee the result will be beautiful, but the hope is that all these errant lines and scribbles coalesce to create a finished product that is meaningful and engaging.
Erin’s designs have been displayed at the Oliver Art Center, St. Francis Retreat Center, and Gallery Fifty; and featured in print in The Rose in the World. Select prints are available through Society6 and Redbubble.
